Gauteng Gambling Board – Gambling Regulators in Gauteng

The Gauteng Gambling Board is a statutory body established in terms of section 3 of the Gauteng Gambling Act, No 4 of 1995 as amended.

The main functions of the GGB are to :

Oversee and control gambling activities in Gauteng, including:

  1. Licensing of individuals and entities to conduct gambling and related activities.
  2. Registering of persons engaged in such activities.
  3. Approval and registering of all gaming devices.
  4. Collecting prescribed taxes and levies for the Gauteng Province and other specified beneficiaries.
  5. Manage and administer the Sports Development Fund
  6. Advise the MEC on matters relating to gambling.
